Grounded Goods B Corp Impact Score

What is a B Corp?

B Corps are companies that meet high standards of verified performance, legal accountability and public transparency. Certification requires a minimum score of 80 points on the B Impact Assessment, and B Corps recertify every three years to keep standards high and drive continuous improvement.

Our latest B Impact Score: 124.4 and rising

We’re proud to share that Grounded Goods achieved 124.4 points in our most recent assessment. That’s a significant lift from our previous scores of 108.8 in 2022 and 110.8 in 2019, reflecting the real improvements we’ve made across the business. For context, the global median for companies that complete the assessment is 50.9.

Where we’re strongest

  • Community: 42.4 – recognition for local manufacturing, supplier practices and contributions to local economic development.

  • Environment: 31.6 – product design that reduces waste and supports closed-loop recycling.

  • Workers: 29.0 – commitments to fair pay, health and safety, learning and engagement.

  • Governance: 16.1 – mission lock and transparent practices.

  • Customers: 5.0 – responsible stewardship and feedback channels.
These category scores come directly from our public B Lab profile.

Going through recertification: raising the bar

We’ve just completed the rigorous recertification process, which B Corps must do every three years. This isn’t just a box-ticking exercise, it’s a full, independent audit of how we operate across every area of impact.

The process took months of preparation and detailed reporting. We reviewed everything from our supply chain and hiring practices, to product lifecycle management, governance structures and customer stewardship. Independent analysts from B Lab verified our evidence and measured it against their global standards.

What we’re most proud of is not just retaining certification, but improving our score significantly. It shows that we’re not standing still, we’re building better systems, scaling up impact and embedding sustainability deeper into the way Grounded Goods operates.

For our team, it was a chance to reflect on what’s working and where we can still grow. For our customers and partners, it means extra assurance that the products and systems you choose from us meet the highest benchmarks in the world for responsible business.

What this looks like in the real world

  • Australian-made with everything we do being done within about a 25 km radius of our base, which keeps quality high and transport impacts down. This includes things like printing, packaging, warehousing etc.

  • Female-led and community-minded, including creating local jobs and hiring women from refugee backgrounds. As a part of this area of assessment, we also decided to formalise our Borrow Box Initiative. Over the past year, we’ve been quietly lending our reusable cups to Melbourne schools, kinders, and community groups so they could run waste-free events. What started informally is now official. As part of our B Corp recertification, we were challenged to look at how we can deepen our impact in the community, not just through the products we sell, but through the way we show up locally. Out of that process, The Borrow Box Initiative grew into a formal program: free cups for local events, designed to keep single-use plastics out of the bin.

  • Closed-loop by design with an in-house take-back program that recycles products at end-of-life into new items.

  • Swap systems and private label options that help venues and events move away from single-use.

Each of these commitments is part of how B Lab has assessed our impact and why our score has climbed.

The B Corp standards are evolving – and we’re ready

B Lab launched updated standards in April 2025 to raise the bar, with clearer, mandatory requirements across key impact areas like climate action and human rights. These standards are being phased in, with transitions and guidance underway to help companies prepare. The goal is simple, stronger accountability and more meaningful impact. We support the shift and will keep improving so we continue to lead.

Why this matters when you buy or partner with us

Every purchase is a vote. Buying from a B Corp with a 124.4 score supports local manufacturing, circular systems and measurable impact. For organisations, it’s a credible way to cut waste and meet sustainability goals without compromising on quality or experience.
